As part of the Young Women Building Their Future Project, NEET young women who participated in the Fashion Design Training at the Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DTSO) showcased their designs in a fashion show, marking the completion of their training.
The four-month training program covered basic pattern making, drawing, and computerized fashion design modules. Additionally, participants attended empowerment-focused training on: Access to Rights, Gender Equality, Communication, Entrepreneurship.
Following the training, for 1.5 months, participants worked in a fashion workshop, creating their own designs. On January 30, 2024, they had the opportunity to present their designs at a fashion show in Diyarbakır.
The fashion show, held at the Diyarbakır Gastroinnovation Center, was attended by: Louisa Vinton, UNDP Türkiye Resident Representative; Nevgül Bilsel Safkan, General Manager of the Sabancı Foundation; Aydın Polat, Diyarbakır Provincial Director of Family and Social Services; Mustafa Yılmaz, Diyarbakır Provincial Director of İŞKUR; Mehmet Kaya, President of DTSO Board of Directors. The DTSO-led “Enhancing the Resilience of NEET Women in the Labor Market” project, which is also supported under the Young Women Building Their Future Grant Program, aims to match 150 NEET women who have completed vocational training with companies for employment.
As part of this initiative, young women who presented their designs at the fashion show continue to receive support for starting their own businesses or securing employment in the industry.
