As part of the Young Women Building Their Future Project, the “Salep and Lavender Cultivation and Marketing” training was held in Adana from June 19-23, 2023, in collaboration with the Adana Agricultural Production Enterprise Agricultural Extension and In-Service Training Center Directorate. Young women participating in the training received theoretical education on medicinal aromatic plants, specifically salep and lavender. Additionally, they had hands-on experience through laboratory and greenhouse visits, as well as field visits to Çukurova Başak Women’s Cooperative and two lavender gardens in Karaisalı district. Participants had the opportunity to engage in lavender harvesting and apply their newly acquired knowledge in practice. In addition to technical training, participants also attended empowerment-focused sessions, covering: Entrepreneurship, Gender Equality, Access to Rights, Role Model Meeting. Additionally, participants were introduced to the Opportunities Map, a platform that enables young women to access job, internship, education, and entrepreneurship support opportunities across Türkiye.
